This music combines African and European instruments to create a moody atmosphere of sadness, unease, confusion, and bewilderment. The chords and melodies of the kora, a West African stringed instrument, provide the harmonic foundation. Meanwhile, the clarinet’s main melody and improvisation contrast with the steady rhythm of the talking drum, guiding us into a mysterious realm.

Music curator Sheeta Ng brought local and international musicians together to compose original pieces for the exhibition M+ Sigg Collection: Inner Worlds. Drawn from the emotional atmosphere of the works on display, these musical responses open an intimate dialogue between sound and image.
