This piece explores the meaning of culture through music. Harmonies drawn from the ancient Greek Lambdoma keyboard accompany rhymical patterns of the singing bowl, the nanbangzi—a rectangular wooden percussion instrument—and the Chinese drum. Together, they represent the Chinese philosophy of ‘Heaven, Humanity, and Earth’.
About Music Pairing:
Music curator Sheeta Ng brought local and international musicians together to compose original pieces for the exhibition M+ Sigg Collection: Inner Worlds. Drawn from the emotional atmosphere of the works on display, these musical responses open an intimate dialogue between sound and image.
